Niantic has been listening in to what players have been wanting to see added to Pokemon Go and frankly, some of these have got us really excited.
The details were revealed at SDCC 2016 by John Hanke, Niantic CEO. He detailed just some of the things they were interested on working on to improve the game, and here they are.
1.Trading
First off they are working on adding a trading system as well as new training features to the game, finally allowing us to swap Pokemon like we could in the main games on Nintendo’s portable consoles. That means we finally will be able to get our hands on region-specific Pokemon! Whoo!
2. Customiseable PokeStops
While not 100% customiseable (like you can’t change a PokeStop’s location for example) there will soon be features that can change the Stops in different ways depending on what items you use. This is pretty similar to Ingress in the sense that you could deploy items to change a portal.
So you could for example drop a Lure that would bring in only Fire Pokemon or make a PokeStop into a temporary PokeCenter to heal up. There’s plenty of directions Niantic can go with this so it would be really nice to see implemented.
3. More Pokemon
At the moment we can only capture 150 Pokemon, as per the original series, but given how vast the franchise is and with more Pokemon at every new generation, there will be lots Niantic will have to add to the fray before they’re even done. Don’t know when they’ll be adding in the new Pokemon but it will likely to happen in stages.
4. Breeding

This is apparently a bit tentative, but for those who have bred Pokemon in the past to max out their stats or to get more of the same types of Pokemon, you’ll love the news. No real details on this yet though. We’re sure it will involve a lot of walking to hatch eggs though!
Hopefully we’ll be seeing some of these new features in action soon! (and of course we’re still waiting for our local release but really, we have no idea when it will be out either).
