Psychonauts 2

You heard that right, Double Fine’s award winning Psychonauts is getting a sequel, 10 years after it originally came out. The game is set a small ways after the events of the first game and follows the adventures of Raz as a professional Psychonaut.

Instead of going for Indiegogo or KickStarter, Double Fine is going through Fig, a platform that lets crowdfunders become investors instead of contribution. The company is looking for about $3.3 million, with the remaining budget to be handled by Double Fine itself along with its external investors.

There isn’t a crazy amount of details about the new game but Tim Schafer dropped quite a few tasty bits of info.

For starters, Psychonauts 2 will be exploring more of Raz’s backstory, including that of his family’s curse to always die in water. There will also be new adventures through different minds, alongside new psychic powers mixed in with the ones we’re familiar with. He hasn’t elaborated what kind yet but we’re quite sure they’ll be pretty awesome.

Much of the original team from Psychonauts will be at the helm of the new one; Erik Wolpaw will be behind the writing, Peter Chan at concept art and Petel McConnell on the music score. Voice actors Richard Horvitz and Nikki Rapp will be back to reprise their roles as Raz and Lily respectively.
