Holy crap, 20th Century Fox surprised us with a new trailer for the rebooted Fantastic Four. And it looks more interesting with a sombre tone compared to older, meh versions back in mid 2000s (Don’t worry, Jessica Alba, we still love you). Chronicle‘s director, Josh Trank is helming the movie with cast with the likes of Miles Teller (Whiplash, Divergent), Micheal B.Jordan (Chronicle, Red Tails), Kate Mara (Transcendence), Jamie Bell (Snowpiercer, Billy Elliot) and Toby Kebbell (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) as Dr. Doom. Scripting is by Simon Kinberg (Big Hero 6, Chappie) and Jeremy Slater.
Some people have commented that Marvel is approaching this title with caution, which might explain the lack of loud PR campaigns and advertisement for the movie unlike Avengers 2. The trailer is careful enough not to show too much to avoid the fiasco that happened with The Amazing Spiderman 2, but we got to see the main cast in action. Donning hazard suits and going through some kind of experiment which went awry which resulted in superpowers. Chaos and electrical sparks everywhere.
This is the official synopsis from Fox:
“Fantastic Four, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel’s original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.”
Fantastic Four releases on 7 August 2015.
What do you think of the first trailer? Does it have you excited for the new movie?
