CBS‘s drama pilot based on Nancy Drew from the popular classic mystery book series we all probably knew as kids now has Sarah Shahi at the helm as the series titular character.
Titled “Drew”, the series is described as a contemporary take on the character from the books, with Nancy now in her 30s and is working for the NYPD as a detective.
The series is written by Joan Rater and Tony Phelan, with directing by James Strong. Shahi is been a regular on CBS as of late, especially with her recent work on Person of Interest.
In Drew, Shahi will be joining Vanessa Ferlito (previously cast as the titular character) as an NYPD homicide detective; Anthony Edwards as Nancy’s father and Felix Solis as NYPD lieutenant. Rater and Phelan will executive produce alongside Dan Jinks.
So do you think a modernised version of this kids classic could really work? let us know in the comments.
