Remember a few months ago, when everybody involved with The Batman said things are going smoothly? Remember how a lot of fans were confidently saying that Ben Affleck’s script will still be used, although he isn’t sitting in the director’s chair anymore? Well, not according to the new director of The Batman, Matt Reeves.

If you’re unfamiliar with Matt Reeves, he’s the GENIUS who made the exceptionally brilliant Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and War for the Planet of the Apes. And while promoting War for the Planet of the Apes, Reeves mentioned that he wouldn’t be using Affleck’s script anymore. In an interview with MTV’s Happy Sad Confused, Reeves had this to say:

No, it’s a new story. It’s just starting again. I’m excited about it. I think it’s going to be really cool.

As disappointed as some people may be with this news, it shouldn’t come as a surprise. While Ben Affleck is a proven director and screenwriter, his The Batman script was part of the screwed up era of DCEU. An era where backstage politics ruined the movies that DCEU was pushing out. But this is a post-Wonder Woman era and things look to be going smoothly.

As Matt Reeves mentioned a few days ago, we might be getting a Noir styled Batman film. And that my friends, is brilliant!
