Yup, more game to movie/series adaptations are coming. Sega is planning on adaptations for of Altered Beast and Streets of Rage and many many more games to be transformed into TV shows and movies.
The projects are basically a joint venture between Sega Group and Hakuhodo DY Group, in partnership with Circle of Confusion to adapt Altered Beast and Streets of Rage into TV and movie stuff.
Circle of Confusion previously produced projects like Fear the Walking Dead, The Talking Dead, Powers, Outcast and Dirk Gently. They also produced films like American Ultra, Spare Parts, and Mr. Right.
There are also planning on adapting some other Sega properties of yesteryear, including Golden Axe, Virtua Fighter, Shinobi, The House of the Dead and Crazy Taxi.
If you’re familiar with most of these titles, you’ll notice that the majority of them are arcade games. While a revival is very much welcome, video game franchises getting converted into TV and movie material doesn’t always go well.
However, they haven’t entirely revealed anything else besides the titles they are adapting, we’ll just have to have our fingers crossed and hope that their next announcements are full of good news.
