The first images of Shocker, a villain from the Spiderverse, has been spotted on set for Spider-Man: Homecoming.

In the comics, Herman Schultz, aka Shocker, is a career criminal who engineered himself a pair of gauntlets that produce seismic disruptions. The whole reason why he wears a heavily insulated (and yellow quilted) costume is that it absorbs the shock from his weapons.

The character originally debuted in The Amazing Spider-Man #45, all the way back in March 1967. We’re not entirely sure what to think of the character’s movie incarnation but he certainly looks different.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is directed by Jon Watts and features Tom Holland as Peter Parker, with Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr. plus many others being cast for the movie.

Spider-Man: Homecoming swings into cinemas 7 July 2017.
