That’s right. Let’s be clear about something. Just like Sony’s upcoming Venom movie, Silver & Black will not be a part of the MCU. And because it’s not a part of the MCU, it is, at least for now, not a Spider-Man spinoff. How can it be called a Spider-Man spinoff, if Spider-Man himself doesn’t necessarily exist in the universe?
The fact that this movie is going to exist in a world without Spider-Man makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. However, Silver & Black is set to be written and directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, who also wrote and directed good, character driven films like Beyond the Lights and The Secret Life of Bees, and I can’t help but get excited about it.
Sony’s Silver & Black is set to be released on 8 February 2019.
