Have a Need for Speed?
Check this out: SK Broadband is introducing a new 10 gigabit per second Internet fiber service. They are showcasing it at the Plenipotentiary Conference of the International Telecommunications Union held at the BEXCO Center in partnership with the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning and the National Information Society Agency at Busan.
With this, South Korea will be in the lead for the world’s fastest Internet outstripping everyone else. The service was launched on 20 October 2014.
They even make it an Asian pride as one Natsuki Kumagai pointed out, “In the 1960s the world watched NASA send men to the moon and many of us grew amazed at the constant advancements of the Americans,” she adds, “Now the Americans are watching us.”
SK Broadband stressed that its 10Gbps will be 100 times faster than South Korean’s current average broadband speed of 100Mbps. Downloading a 1GB file will only take 0.8 seconds with the new package instead of 80 seconds with 100Mbps. South Korea has an average Internet connection speed of 24.6Mbps compared to No 2 which is Hong Kong with 15.7Mbps. In contrast, the USA is ranked at No 14 with 11.4Mbps. Don’t need to know where Malaysia stands.
