Sony has confirmed that they are in fact working on an official app to allow PC and Mac users to enjoy PlayStation 4 Remote Play on their machines.
This was confirmed by Shushei Yoshida, President of Worldwide Studios; Sony Computer Entertainment, Inc. via Twitter earlier this week. This was following the news of an independent developer releasing a paid version of a similar, unofficial app that does the samething.
PlayStation 4 Remote Play is a streaming app that’s currently only available on Sony’s own Xperia tablet and smartphone devices, PlayStation Vita and additional TVs at home via the PlayStation TV.
This ultimately means that more people owning the console will get to enjoy their games on what technically counts as a totally different platform. We aren’t sure if Sony will be charging for the app but it’s certainly news some gamers have been waiting for.
