Sony Pictures has dropped some new tidbits about its upcoming Spider-Man animated feature, a new Ghostbusters series as well as a couple of details on that emoji movie they were talking about months back.
To start, the animated Spider-Man movie they’re working on finally has a director; Bob Persichetti (Puss in Boots, The Little Prince) and the movie will be released in 2018. Unfortunately, they haven’t revealed which Spider-Man storyline they’ll be following for this one yet.
Sony has also confirmed that they are planning to do a few new shows, one of which being an animated Ghostbusters series called Ghostbusters:Ecto Force. It will be set in 2050 and will be following what looks like a totally new group of ‘busters.
There’s also talks of animated series continuations of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and Hotel Transylvania as well; with the former set for a 2017 debut on Teletoon Canada and Hotel Transylvania is set to hit the Disney channel the same year. The former will be a continuation of the events of the 2009 movie, while the latter is about Mavis’s teenage year adventures.
Last but not least, that emoji movie has been named. Called Emojimovie: Express Yourself, it’s set to release August 2017, its all about the emojis that live in your smartphone (or in this case Emojiland). The movie is set to be a comedy of course.
