star wars the force awakens

You read that right, the release date for Star Wars: Episode VIII has been delayed, but will still be hitting cinemas the same year.

The news was dropped via a press release, stating that its original 26 May 2017 launch date has been pushed back a few months to 15 December 2017, sliding it from a summer release to a winter holiday one.

Its wise to note that Star Wars: The Force Awakens was also  originally slotted for a summer release but ended up being pushed to December. So by the looks of it, we probably are going to be getting Star Wars movies every Christmas (yaaaaaay), with The Force Awakens last year, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story this December and Episode VIII next year.

On a side note, the now vacant slot for the 26 May release date of Episode VIII is now occupied by Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, bumping it up from its original 7 July release in 2017.
