While he didn’t get to say much at the end of The Force Awakens, the next episode in the Star Wars saga will be very much about Luke Skywalker.
At the end of The Force Awakens we had Rey tracking down Skywalker, returning his lightsaber to him. The next movie will still be following Rey, but director Rian Johnson wants to focus on the familiar themes the previous movie brought to light, but weren’t really touched on.
Of course, we still haven’t quite figured out exactly who Rey’s parents, but hopes are high that her father is indeed Luke himself.
Episode 8 also apparently has a title already but they can’t reveal it yet. Instead, they’ll drop it at the Star Wars Celebration in April this year.
Star Wars: Episode 8 will be released 15 Dec 2017.
