Square Enix recently announced that they’ve opened a brand new studio called Studio Istolia, and they’ve already got their first RPG project running.
Project Prelude Rune as it’s called, being produced by the new stuio head, former Tales producer Hideo Baba. The project’s name comes from the Greek word for “story” and the studio aims “provide unforgettable stories that will inspire players in their own lives, and bring new game experiences to everyone around the world.”
Here’s what Square Enix says about the new game:
The project aims to build a new RPG with a new fantasy: unfolding across a vast land teeming with life. Nurtured by the earth, the many peoples of this land dare to dream, fighting for what is just—and this is their tale.
So far the game has a pretty strong fantasy look, large sprawling landscapes with large structures (possibly floating) and dragons. No other details yet but I’m sure they’ll be revealed when the time comes.
The studio is currently looking for staff, with heaps of positions open. If you live in Tokyo and think you have what it takes, you can take a look for yourself here.
