The cast for Suicide Squad is now confirmed. Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie and Tom Hardy are officially salted to appear in Warner Bros movie of these villains turned somewhat government agents. Besides the big names mentioned earlier, newcomers Jai Courtney and Cara Delevingne will also be joining the cast.
And if you’re wondering who’s playing who, here’s a bit of a tidbit. Will Smith will stepping in as Deadshot, the sharpshooting Batman villain (and if you’re following the Arrow TV universe, one time Arrow villain) while Tom Hardy will be playing Rick Flagg, a character that’s somewhat unknown unless you really know your DC universe trivia. Jared Leto will be playing the Joker and as previously reported in THG, Margot Robbie will be Harley Quinn, the temperamental on-and-off squeeze of the Joker. As for Jai Courtney, he’ll be taking on the roll of the Flash’s nemesis the Boomerang while Delevingne will be casting her magic as the Enchantress.
Rumours are still swirling that Jesse Eisenberg, who has been cast as Lex Luthor in Superman v Batman will make a cameo in this movie. With Joker making an appearance in the movie, many a fan are wondering if Jared Leto can live up to the performance of one of DC’s most famous villains. With brilliant performance from actors before him like Jack Nicholson and the late Heath Ledger (and if you want to take the DC animated universe into account, the awesome Mark Hamill), Leto has some pretty big shoes to fill.
Suicde Squad is being directed by David Ayer (Fury, End of Watch), and is scheduled for 5 August 2016 launch.
