The second trailer for Bandai Namco’s Super Robot Wars OG: The Moon Dwellers has been released and based on what we’ve seen, we can expect a Summer (June to August) release for the simulation/strategic role-playing game (RPG).
The new trailer is in English (YAY!) and previews the story of the game while introducing new characters and mecha into the Super Robot Wars OG universe. From what we’ve seen so far, the new game’s story tells of a new calamity that emerges from the moon, and the soldiers and heroes from the Super Robot Wars OG universe must fight against this coming disaster.
As for the mecha that’s confirmed for the game, they include; the Granteed, the Bellezelute, the SoulSaber FF and a few others. As for the new characters, they include Akimi Akatsuki, Akemi Akatsuki, Rio Mei Long, Tōya Shiun, Katia Grineal, and Merua Meruna Meia. We’ll also be seeing the return of many of the previous Super Robot Wars OG characters and mechas in the Moon Dwellers game.
For many who have never played the Super Robot Wars series before, the game will feature both a “Beginner’s Mode” and a “Guidance Scenario” in-game instruction.
Super Robot Wars OG: The Moon Dwellers, is the first game in the franchise’s 25th-anniversary celebration and also the first in the series to come out in English for the Playstation consoles. There were English translations for the game but it was limited to the Nintendo DS and only two titles, Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation and the sequel, Super Robot Taisen 2: Original Generation.
For many non-Japanese speaking and reading fans of the series, it’ll finally be great to play the game without having to memorise what the menu items are and finally, understand the story.
As shown in the trailer, we can expect the game to ship around Summer 2016 in Japan, while we can expect the English versions to head over to Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia as well.
