Pokemon GO test THG

Ever since Pokemon GO’s launch in Australia, New Zealand and the US, there’s been a steady stream of bizzare stories coming out of the woodwork. From near death experience to brushes with law enforcement. This story however, is a little more macabre.

A teenager in the US stumbled upon a dead body floating in her hometown’s river while playing the game. The 19-year-old teenager from Riverton, Wyoming named Shayla Wiggins was searching for water based Pokemon in a “natural water resource” when she stumbled upon the body.

She proceeded to call her local authorities and police who then came to retrieve the body. According to a press release that was pushed out later:

The death appears to be accidental in nature and possibly that of a drowning. There is no evidence at this time that would indicate foul play. Evidence located at the scene has led investigators to believe the man went into the water at the location he was found. The body was located in about three feet of water on the east side of the Wind River Bridge.

According to The Verge, Pokemon GO was noticeably missing from the release.

We figure that body would have eventually been found but considering how much fans of Pokemon Go are willing to go to find Pokemon, it’s possible we’ll be hearing more stories of such nature in the coming weeks.
