Looks like eSports is really becoming a viable occupation now, with the Academy of eSports (AOES) Iskandar Puteri officially opening its doors with a DOTA 2 training bootcamp.
While it won’t be the only place in Malaysia where you can get yourself an official eSports education, the campus, which is set in Iskandar Malaysia (Johor), AOES actually does offer certification-level education.
Being Malaysia’s first full-fledged professional eSports education facility, prospective future pro-gamers will be honing their skills using top quality gaming gear on high-performance rigs.
To mark the facility’s launch, it will kick off with a one-week free of charge DOTA 2 Training Bootcamp that runs from 9 October to 23 December. The Bootcamp has classes from Monday to Saturday afternoon, and is inclusive of programmes such as Personality Test, Scrims / Skirmishes, Post-Game Analysis & Replays, MMR/PUB and a Tournament.
Everything will be overseen by reputable coaches, the likes of Wilson “ShenGG” Quak, Muhammad ‘Groov’ Yusuf and Kieran “ZergRush” Lam, along with industry experts.
Maybe this will be the start to cultivating more eSports pros locally! In the mean time, if you happen to be interested, you can look at the academy in detail here.
