If there was one movie that managed to capture the hearts of geeks everywhere this year, it’ll be Guardians of the Galaxy. One scene particular has managed to give all us the collective “awww” and that’s the final scene of dancing “chibi-ed” Groot.
The famouse scene has seared itself into the entire minds of geeks as the ultimate essence of cute and there have been clamours for an official figurine or toy to be released. Though no sound or news of an official figurine was made in the days that followed the release of the movie, that hasn’t stopped eager fans to come up with their own customised version of single-sentence saying Groot. Can’t be bothered or too lazy to make your own? Well now you won’t have to as an official Baby Groot figurine is coming thanks to Funko.
If you’re not too sure who Funko is, they’re the guys responsible for “chibi-fying” a whole bunch of popular game/comic/etc. characters into the POP! vinyl figurines. They have a specific line full of Marvel characters under the (what else) POP! Marvel label and already have a POP! Marvel Groot figurine. However they’re now going to release the Dancing Baby version of Groot complete with potted-plant bottom. Funko has mentioned that they’ll be making an official statement regarding it sometime this week so we shouldn’t have to wait too long before it hits the stores. We’re already saving space on our tables for one.
