A couple of days ago Square Enix showcased the trailer for the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Remake; now they’ve confirmed that the game will be a multi-part series, with each part being its own unique experience. We certainly didn’t expect Square Enix to go all Telltale on us.

The reasoning behind this is apparently because the game is so gigantic that the software needs to be split into several titles. The game will also feature some new scene additions but the basic story will remain the same. We don’t know if this is good or bad news because more parts means we likely would have to shell out more per episode, or that we can have a lot more content in between the original story plot.

Sony also posted a video with producer Yoshinori Kitase that explains that the new game won’t be completely action based but will instead have more real-time elements than its turn based predecessor.

The Final Fantasy VII Remake will first make its debut on PlayStation 4, before heading to PC probably. Tetsuya Nomura will be directing the game with Kazushige Nojima back to writing the game as well.

Last but not least, for those who would like to pick up the original title for Final Fantasy VII, its port has gone on sale at a discount until 13 Dec for the PS4. Purchasers will also get a static custom Final Fantasy VII Remake theme for their console.
