After holding fans in suspense for about half a decade, the last film in Neon Genesis Evangelion‘s revival franchise finally gets a teaser.

This teaser is basically the first sign of life for the Evangelion 3.0+1.0 film in years.

While it’s not much of a teaser, the anime’s homepage did drop a rather large poster for the film; which reads “After that, and the end. Not, and anti” in the poster’s English translation. No idea what that exactly means (because seriously, that’s cryptic af) but hopefully an inkling of it will be revealed in future teasers and/or maybe a trailer.

While originally the Rebuild of Evangelion tetralogy was supposed to be a retelling of the 1995 anime series, it quickly grew into a reboot, complete with new characters and storyline.

Development for the film has been ongoing by Studio Khara since late 2016; despite originally being teased to have a winter 2015 release which obviously didn’t happen. However the reasons for the delay is mostly due to director Hideaki Anno having trouble with production on the third film, and his work on the Shin Godzilla movie also kept him busy.

We don’t know just when the last film will drop, but it’s nice to know that it’s firmly on its way.
