The guys behind the upcoming Ajin: Demi-Human manga to live-action adaptation have released a short teaser clip on the movie. Check it out!

The clip isn’t particularly long, but it’s chock full of material, mostly action scenes and showcasing the characters. The effects don’t look half bad either!

Here’s the general plot of the manga:

The story is about a student named Kei Nagai (永井 圭 Nagai Kei?), who discovers he is an immortal “Ajin” when he is hit by a truck. He becomes a wanted person because the Ajin are considered dangerous inhuman beings and the only person who is there to support him is his childhood friend, Kaito. While the government claims to help Ajin live in a safe environment, they are actually using them as subjects for cruel and inhumane experimentation. As a result, Ajin that have escaped are bent on revenge with the exception of Kei. During his escape it is subtly revealed he lacks the capacity for empathy and throughout the series only shows an interest in his own goals, however he actually tries to hide his feelings and cares about people closest to him.

The film is set in Tokyo circa 2017, so they’ve also aged up Kei (who is a medical intern) to match his actor, Takeru Satoh.

Here’s the cast:

  • Takeru Satoh as Kei Nagai
  • Gou Ayano as Satō
  • Tetsuji Tamayama as Yū Tosaki,
  • Rina Kawaei as Izumi Shimomura
  • Minami Hamabe as Eriko Nagai, Kei’s younger sister
  • Yuu Shirota Kōji Tanaka
  • Yudai Chiba as Okuyama
  • Yūki Yamada as Takahashi

Ajin: Demi-Human is set to hit Japan 30 September.
