Looks like Obi-Wan will be getting his movie after all, as a script about the Jedi master is apparently in the works.
While Disney themselves have offered no comment on the matter, we have reason to believe the upcoming film would be a standalone movie. The script is being developed by Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot, The Hours) and is in early talks to direct as well.
Before this, most of Obi-Wan Kenobi’s adventures have been explored in the comics and on Rebels animated show but has yet to get his own dedicated feature film.
Ewan McGregor isn’t yet attached to the project (but he has said many times that he’s very keen on reprising his role), but depending on the content they might enlist a younger actor as well. Just don’t recommend Chris Pratt please, he’s everywhere now.
We don’t even know when this will be planned to be released, given that the Star Wars films for the next three years have already been planned out; The Last Jedi hitting this December, the Han Solo movie come May 2018 and Episode IX in May 2019.
Hopefully, we’ll know more info soon!
