Seems we’ll be getting a brand live-action new reboot for “The Tick” as ordered by Amazon as a five-episode pilot.
Rumors of a live-action reboot for the superhero comedy have been floating around the internet since 2014, and now it looks like we really are getting it. So far The Tick creator Ben Edlund is on the project as writer and executive producer alongside Barry Josephson, who was an executive producer for the Fox “Tick” series. Wally Pfiser (best known for work on the Dark Knight trilogy) is in negotiations to direct the pilot.
Last but not least, The Tick’s sidekick Arthur will be played by Griffin Newman and Dot Everest will be portrayed by Valorie Curry.
They haven’t yet cast The Tick himself just yet but we’re sure they’re in the process. Patrick Warburton, the the original Tick from the first live-action series is apparently not involved with the pilot despite being rumoured to do so.
Some details for the upcoming pilot were dropped, one of which is that the main character will be recovering from amnesia before he rejoins Arthur to fight evil. Arthur on the other hand will be labeled as a schizophrenic because nobody believes him when he says evil plans to rule the city; and Dot is a nurse who cares deeply about her brother (Arthur).
No word when the pilot will be out but we hope we get more news on it soon.
