Fox might just be attempting to reboot the long dormant, but once seriously popular sci-fi thriller series, The X-Files. Apparently, one of the biggest hurdle they have to face is the availability of its original cast – David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson and its creator Chris Carter, who are busy with their own respective projects.
The original series ran for nine seasons, two movie adaptations and extremely memorable theme music it also had inspired few copycat series from around the world alongside a host of comics. So far, it is not known in what shape this return to the series might look like, but recent success of 24’s return might hint at what we might be seeing. Apparently this is not the first time Fox has considered this, as rumours of its return has been discussed many times over. However, this might be the strongest case for it so far.
Given the really sub-par movie release in 2008, many fans of the franchise might clamour for the reboot or continue the old series just to give it justice.
