There’s no doubt that Pokemon Go has been a big hit since it’s launch in Malaysia last week. It’s enough of a hit that even brands like Maxis, Grab and U Mobile are getting into the whole fad. Now it seems that fans of the game can celebrate its launch with what seems to be the first Pokemon Go launch party in Malaysia.
The Pokemon GO launch party is being held this weekend, 13 to 14 August at KDU College auditorium at Damansara Jaya. It’s being held in conjunction with this years 3DS Corner 2016, the yearly meetup for Nintendo 3DS fans in Malaysia, and Cosplay Corner, the meetup for Malaysian cosplayers.
The event will run on both day from 10am till 6pm and will feature a couple of activities that ought to interest Trainers. One of it is of course the Pokemon GO live-hunt. As KDU College, Damansara Jaya has three Pokestops, all within a 100m of each other, the organisers will be pumping Lure modules into all three of them throughout the event so Trainers can basically camp and hunt the whole day.
That’s not all, they’re having not one but four Pokemon GO photo contest where winners will be able to walk away with Pokemon plushies, Official Comic Fiesta merchandise, and Nintendo Gaming merchandise.
The four photo contest are split as follows:
Catch em all Photo contest
Participants will have to take pictures of all the Pokemon they’ve caught in the KDU College premise (make sure the AR feature is turned on), then upload them onto their Facebook album, set privacy to public and include the hashtags #CatchThemAllLaunchParty #3DSCorner2016 into the album description. The top 3 winners will win Official Comic Fiesta Merchandise.
Mascot Photo Lucky Draw
Cosplayer Dawn Snow is the Mascot for the event. To participate in this contest, participants will have to find her at the Launch Party and take a picture of her with a Pokemon you encounter in the Pokemon GO game (remember to ask her permission first). They’ll then have to upload the picture to Facebookwith the hashtags #DawnSnow #3DSCorner2016. One lucky winner will win a Big Mew Plushie sponsored by Rukia Plush Heaven.
Creative Pokemon GO contest
This contest requires participants to take the most creative Pokemon GO pictures (obviously with AR turned on) at KDU College, Damansara Jaya and tag the photo on Facebook with the hashtags #PoGoFunnyLaunchParty #3DSCorner2016. The top 3 photos with the most organic likes will stand a chance to Official Pokemon Plushies by Rukia Plush Heaven
Highest CP Photo Contest
Finally, there’s the highest CP Photo Contest. As the name says, it requires participants to take a screenshot of the highest CP Pokemon they encounter (AR turned on). Upload the picture to Facebook with the hashtags #BestCPLaunchParty #3DSCorner2016 and the picture which has the highest CP Pokemon will win a Jigglypuff Amiibo sponsored by Impulse Gaming Sunway Branch.
And if photo taking isn’t what you’re looking for, you can still win Pokemon GO team t-shirts, sponsored by Moeco Designs, in a lucky draw. The giveaway will be held on each day of the event (Day 1 – 12pm, Day 2 – 5pm) and all you have to do is:
