Many of you would have been delighted when McDonald’s Malaysia announced the availability of their Durian McFlurry in stores. However, not even a week after they released it, it’s now out of stock.
And no this isn’t some temporary out-of-stock situation like what happened with their McDonald’s fried chicken. They really don’t have any more to sell in the country and won’t be bringing it back until next year.
The reason? According to the announcement in McDonald’s Malaysia’s Facebook page, it’s because the Durian McFlurry is actually made out of real D24 durian and as the dessert was sold WAY MORE than they were expecting, they would not be able to replenish the stock until the coming season. According to McDonald’s that will only be in 2018.
This is less than a week since it was made available on 24 August making it one of the fastest items to disappear from McDonald’s Malaysia’s menu ever.

A combination of poor harvest due to the weather and many of our local durian stocks heading to China have contributed to the shortage of this king of fruits in the country, as well as the skyrocketing prices. So it’s not only McDonald’s dessert lover who suffer but durian lovers in general as well.
Hopefully next year, we won’t be seeing such a shortage again cause not only do we want to see the Durian McFlurry on the menu of McDonald’s Malaysia again, but we don’t want to pay ridiculous prices for our durians either.
