Looks like we’re in for a treat, there’s some new Easter eggs in Pokemon Go with the new buddy update!
Niantic has hinted in the past that there will be fan-service secrets to discover in their game. One of which is the fact that Pikachu says its own name instead of the original cry that the other Pokemon make; and now there’s a new trick for you Pikachu owners.
With the new Buddy update, which allows you to walk with your Pokemon to accumulate candies comes this Easter egg. Typically Pokemon will just stand alongside your avatar as you walk but if you happen to have a Pikachu, something cool happens.
Once you’ve walked 10 kilometers with Pikachu, it will sit on your shoulder instead, much like how Ash’s Pikachu hitches a ride on his shoulder in the anime.
We haven’t personally tried this trick yet (we don’t have a Pikachu yet, we’ll have to camp at Taman Jaya to catch one first!) but if any of you have managed to get it to work let us know!
