Wouldn’t you have loved to fly an X-Wing as though you were in the pilot seat? this pitch for a fan-made VR game looks like it would make that a reality for fans of the franchise.

Made with the help from the HammerheadVR studio, director Rob McLellan (known for robot horror short, ABE) VFX guy Graig Stiff and a whole bunch of talented 3D artists have produced this VR game for the Oculus Rift. The game runs completely on Unreal Engine 4, which already looks absolutely stunning to the point we’re surprised that LucasArts isn’t scrabbling to get this guy on their team.

It might not be much but it already looks like all we could ever want from a Star Wars game. However, since its in the nature for big companies to issue Cease and Desist letters to fan-projects in the name of protecting their IPs, its hard to say if the project will get the green light from LucasArts. The team is hoping to have a playable demo or build ready for the Oculus Rift when the Rift is ready for launch next year.

In the mean time, savour the goodness of the best Star Wars VR trailer you might ever watch.
