Multiplatform wartime survival game This War of Mine is heading to the tabletop with a boardgame adaptation. Produced by 11 bit studios; the boardgame is playable straight out of the box with a companion app.
The game will be designed by Michael Oracz (Neuroshima Hex) and Jakub Wisniewski (the translator and story designer for Dying Light, Earthcore: Shattered Elements) to produce the six person multiplayer game. The board game also apparently can be designed for solo play; with a tentative release sometime in 2016.
Interestingly, the game won’t require players to know the rules of the game before playing. This War of Mine the Board Game is designed to be played the moment you sit down, and the app will help you along. Board games with companion apps to play aren’t new though; with games like XCOM: The Board Game also utilising a similar formula.
The app will include game related puzzled, cutscenes, scenario-triggered scripts, soundtrack, live story updates, hidden secrets and more un-lockable content to name a few.
