Prepare for a lot more science fiction on your small screen. Apart from DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and Syfy’s 12 Monkeys, NBC and ABC have ordered a time travel TV show each: Timeless, and Time After Time
The plot of Timeless involves 3 people being sent back through history in order to stop a time terrorist from changing the present. The trailer (linked below) features a cool timeship, an action-packed history romp, and a slice of social commentary revolving around the fact that Malcolm’s Barrett’s character would not have a good time at any point in history due to his skin color.
The show is headed by Eric Kripke of Supernatural and stars True Detective’s Abigail Spencer, The Clone War’s Matt Lanter, and Barrett who was in 2008’s Best Picture winning The Hurt Locker.
Time After Time meanwhile rips Jack the Ripper from his place in Victorian England and puts him in the modern world. Main character HG Wells (yes, that HG Wells) is transported to New York in pursuit of the serial killer. The show stars Josh Bowman (Revenge) and Freddie Stroma (Game of Thrones, Harry Potter) and you can glimpse the first 11 seconds of this alternate future below.
