Toei has announced that 17-year-old actor Shun Nishime will be starring as the protagonist Takeru Tenkūji in the next installment of the Kamen Rider francise, Kamen Rider Ghost. This will be Nishime’s first leading role in a serialized TV series and will be working hand in hand with the suit actor Seiji Takaiwa. The show will be directed by Satoshi Morota and Takurō Fukuda is the designated scriptwriter for this installment.
Other confirmed actors are Hikaru Ōsawa as the main female lead Akari Tsukimura, Ryōsuke Yamamoto as Makoto Fukami/Kamen Rider Specter, Takayuki Yanagi as the acting chief priest Onari of the Ōtenkūji temple, Naoto Takenaka as a hermit, Yoshiyuki Morishita as the currently un-named mysterious man who knows the Eycons secrets and Hayato Isomura as Alan, who works with the mysterious man.
In the story, Takeru loses his life to the main monster of the installment called a Ganma. However, thanks to the power of the hermit, Takeru is partially brought back to life and becomes Kamen Rider Ghost. The main story will revolve around Takeru seeking the “Eyecons” of the “15 Great Men” in order to completely come back to life.
This installation of the series will feature eye like transformation items called “Eyecons” which will allow Takeru to borrow power from “great heroes of the past.” Among those heroes who have been confirmed are Miyamoto Musashi, Isaac Newton, and Thomas Edison. Each “Eyecon” will give Takeru different powers and forms such as the “Newton Soul Eyecon” gives him the power to control gravity.
Kamen Rider Ghost has already made his first appearance in Gekijōban Kamen Rider Drive: Surprise Future film as a cameo to get audiences hyped for the next installment in the series.
Kamen Rider Ghost will premier on Octorber 4 on TV Asahi.
