Tom Hardy is out of David Ayer’s Suicide Squad. The studio behind the movie, Warner Bros. is now asking Jake Gyllenhaal to take the role. He’s been raking in accolades for his superlative performance in last year’s Nightcrawler to fill in the vacated role, Rick Flagg.
So far, confirmed castings are Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jared Leto as the Joker, Jai Courtney as Boomerang and Cara Delevingne as Enchantress. Reasons given for Tom Hardy’s exit is due scheduling conflicts according to the Hollywood Reporter. He is busy with shooting of The Revenant, a frontier drama with Leonardo DiCaprio, which taking longer than originally planned. This could be the main reason why he opted out from Suicide Squad.
Tom Hardy has also starred in the rebooted post apocalyptic movie, Mad Max: Fury Road, which is opening on 15 May 2015. So far, there is no confirmation if Jake Gyllenhaal will take up the role or not. He used to work with David Ayer in the critically acclaimed police drama thriller, End of Watch.
