3. Ore Monogatari!!

Ore Monogatari

Of course we can’t leave out our shojo readers and viewers either. This entry ought to fit the build. Ore Monogatari is a vastly popular manga title with female readers in Japan. How popular? Take it this way, it won the Best Shoujo Manga at the 37th Kodansha Manga Awards.

The story itself sounds like your typical shojo material. A typical pretty, cute but gutsy girl (you know, the sweet moe type) and her relationship with a guy with a big heart. Except unlike most shoujo male leads, he ain’t your typical “ikemen” (handsome man) character. That’s his best bud. Instead the main male lead looks more like a gorilla; big, ugly and with hint of Yakuza-ness in his voice. Sounds like an interesting premise with lots of potential laughs as well right?

It’s this un-typical, feel good, “healing” sort of shoujo anime that you ought to watch after the heartbreak and tears of the recently concluded Shigatsu Kimi no Uso (Your April is a Lie) romance anime.

And if that isn’t reason enough, Ore Monogatari is being produced by Madhouse Studio which we all know tends to put out great quality anime. So need your romance fix this season? Ore Monogatari should be on your list.

Watch it if: You need a love story that’ll get you giggling and not crying
