2. Charlotte
Imagine an alternate universe where some kids get super powers/special abilities when they hit puberty? Sounds like something out of an X-Men story right? Well that’s the premise of Charlotte. This anime centers around the special abilities that occur among a small percentage of boys and girls when they hit puberty in an alternate Japan.
Enter Yuu Otosaka, our protagonist who has such powers but uses them without others knowing and manages to live a fairly normal, average school life. That is before he meets Nao Tomori. What fate will befall the special power-users due to this fateful meeting.
With Key’s co-founder Maeda Jun at the helm, you can rest assured that Charlotte will be an emotional roller coaster ride. And if you’re worried about the animation front, that’s not going to be an issue. With P.A Works in charge of animating it, you are guaranteed a visual masterpiece to accompany Maeda’s storytelling.
Watch it if: You enjoy tear-jerkers accompanied by some of the best visuals in the business.
