Studio Trigger (Kill la Kill, Ninja Slayer) updated their Kickstarter site for their pet project, Little Witch Academia 2/リトルウィッチアカデミア 魔法仕掛けのパレード which its first short excited a lot of fans 2 years ago under Anime Mirai project. Here is the anime short that started all of this:

They admitted that the production have fallen little bit behind the schedule and the rewards for the Kickstarter pledge will be also delayed.

They revealed that the music score for the anime project is already wrapped up at Moscow.

Also, the production team shows off some work in progress which is displaying the background illustrations and snapshots of the finished scenes. Here are some of the comments made by the team:

I believe the analog/hand painted style background is one of the selling points of LWA! Most of the anime series today use full digital backgrounds (not to say they are bad) but LWA was fortunate enough to take the time to use quality hand painted backgrounds.”

“To finish it off, the snapshot from some of our finished cuts! I bet everyone was curious about our new girls from our previous update, so I went and snatched a colored screen of the three.
And, lastly a shot of Diana! (Sorry for being biased, but she’s my favorite character!)”

The crowdfunding is a massive success with US$625,518 achieved with set goal at the modest US$150,000. Since the milestone of US$500,000 breached, there will be release of Little Witch Academy 2 in Blu-Ray format which will be divided into standard edition and limited edition. Standard edition comes with audio commentary and making of whereas the other one will include the former both plus OST and exclusive artbook of the anime.

Little Witch Academia 2 will be over 40 minutes long.

The staff list includes Yoshinari Yoh (Gurren Lagann Parallel Works) as the director who also the character designer with Masahiko Otsuka (Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt) as the scribe. Michiru Oshima (Full Metal Alchemist, Xamdou) is the music composer.

The anime is scheduled for release somewhere in 2015. For more information, check out their Kickstarter site.
