The filming of War of the Planet of the Apes will begin this October after human casting has been finalized by 20th Century Fox.
For now, it is confirmed that Gabriel Chavarra will be playing a key role in the third movie. The actor debuted in 2007 with Freedom Writers and had appeared in shows like East Los High and Aquarius. Another notable project that he is involved with is called Low Riders under Universal Studios. War of the Planet of the Apes will be directed by Mark Reeves (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Cloverfield) based on Mark Bomback’s (The Wolverine, Insurgent) script. The director hints on what is coming to Caesar (Andy Serkis) in this movie:
“The first one is sort of how [Caesar] goes from humble beginnings to becoming a revolutionary. In ‘Dawn,’ he really rose to occasion of becoming a leader in really challenging and difficult times. The notion of what we’re after with the third is to sort of continue that trajectory and see how he becomes a seminal figure in ape history. He almost becomes sort of like an ape Moses. A mythic status… We’re trying to play out those themes and continue to sort of explore it in this universe. Exploring human nature under the guise of apes.”
Serkis said the franchise could have more than three movies but he declines to elaborate further. The movie will set to monkey around in the cinemas on 14 July 2017.
