During this year’s International (TI5), Valve had showcased one of their new modes that will be out next week as a part of Dota 2 Reborn on release, which will allow up to 24 player matches. In the showcase, they had an All Star match where ten professional players played along side ten players randomly selected from the audience in a 10 vs 10 match. The result was very loud and silly but was still an enjoyable demonstration and it really showcased the Source 2 upgrade for the game.
While the current limit is a total of 10 players, this is a big leap from the iconic 5 vs 5 matches we all know. With the new total being 24, large matches could become a hassle to some but will bring much more enjoyment to others. This also allows gamers to set the balance of players from anywhere bellow the maximum of 24 players, so some can finally have that 6 vs 6 match they always wanted starting next week.
Now the big question is, what kind of impact will having 24 players running around all at once have for less powerful PCs?
