If you were a kid in the ’80ies, you’ll remember Voltron. Now its back for a brand new generation with Voltron: Legendary Defender which will debut as a Netflix series.
So far, the first image from the series is looking quite true to the source material, which was adapted from Japanese anime in 1984-95. While there will be a handful of tweaks to make the show more relevant to modern audiences (like serialized storytelling for example) most of it will remain the same.
Legendary Defender centers on five Earth teenagers — Keith, Lance, Hunk, Pidge and Shiro — who are thrown into the middle of an intergalactic battle and become the last line of defense for Arus and other planets against an evil alien force led by King Zarkon.
So far it’s sounding pretty good, with fairly minimal change from the source material so its still recogniseable by the older fans while being something fresh for the newbies.
Voltron: Legendary Defender will be hitting Netflix later this year with a 13-episode season. Hope they release a trailer soon.
