Voltron Legendary Defender Season 2

It hasn’t been that long since the second season of Voltron: Legendary Defender was released and now we’ve just got confirmation that we’ll be seeing the third season of the reimagined series again this year! (Warning: Season 2 spoilers ahead)

This piece of news was confirmed by Voltron showrunner Joaquim Dos Santos during a panel WonderCon 2017 panel last Saturday. The Netflix and Dreamworks animated series has received rave reviews and a good fan following since it first debut on June 10, 2016.

Season 2 of Voltron: Legendary Defender ended on a pretty exciting note, with the defeat of Emperor Zarkon and the disappearance of Shiro which set up some interesting things ahead for Season 3. Though the details of the new season are pretty sparse, one thing has been confirmed, which is the new villain of the series, Prince Lotor.

We’ll also likely see the story focus around the disappearance of Shiro and what the Voltron team has to do now that they’re one pilot down (come on we know this one already, get your Pink Suit ready Princess Allura, it’s your turn!)

There hasn’t been a confirmed date for the premiere of Season 3 yet but we can expect it sometime later this year, though maybe, just maybe, considering that Season 1 came out in June in 2016, that might be the case for Season 3 as well. We’ll just have to hope it comes out around that time.

As for those of us in South East Asia hoping to binge watch the entire series on Netflix when it comes out, hopefully, the streaming service will finally bring the series to our region soon. Currently, due to various broadcasting licensing contracts, Netflix is unable to show any of the Voltron: Legendary Defender in markets like Malaysia, the Philippines and Singapore. We’ve reached out to Netflix for an update on this issue and hopefully, they’ll get back to us with some good news.
