The first trailer for Netflix and DreamWorks‘ upcoming Voltron reboot just dropped and it shows us how the mech assembles itself before it kicks butt.
While it still involves a bunch of cats sticking together, the team behind the machinery certainly did their homework; as you can see the way the joints interlock and connect together certainly looks very plausible.
Legendary Defender centers on five Earth teenagers — Keith, Lance, Hunk, Pidge and Shiro — who are thrown into the middle of an intergalactic battle and become the last line of defense for Arus and other planets against an evil alien force led by King Zarkon.
The series is set to have a 13 episode first season, with the story centering more on the Lion Force pilots backstories; with inspiration from Star Wars and Game of Thrones.
They’ve also revealed the voice cast for the show:
- Jeremy Shada (Adventure Time) as Lance
- Bex Taylor-Klaus (Arrow) as Pidge
- Josh Keaton (Green Lantern: The Animated Series) as Shiro
- Tyler Labine (Tucker and Dale vs. Evil) as Hunk
- Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead) as Keith
- Kimberly Brooks (Mass Effect) as Princess Allura
- Rhys Darby (Flight of the Conchords) as Coran
Voltron: Legendary Defender is set to premiere 10 June 2016 on Netflix.
