Warner Bros. has just announced that they have acquired Machinima, a Youtube prescence known for its gaming and fan works, in its entirety.

Machinima will now be part of Warner Bros. Digital Networks, which essentially is dedicated to building the brand’s digital and over-the-top video services which was launched in June this year.

The reason for absorbing Machinima however, is because of the overlap between Machinima’s fanbase and the studio’s.

“Machinima is a strong gamer and fandom content and social brand with enormous reach and high engagement with audiences that play our games and are big fans of DC films and television shows,” stated Craig Hunegs, the President of the Digital Networks division.

They’ve also partnered up with Machinima in the past to create exclusive content; including Mortal Kombat: Legacy and Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles. So it does make perfect sense that they decided to make the outfit their own.

The full terms which the acquisition was made is not public, but we can expect more dedicated Warner. Bros (and by extension DC universe) content to appear on the channel soon.
