Looks like we’re in for no shortage of reboots and sequels this year; as Warner Bros. and producer David Heyman (Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts, Gravity) want to make a new Willy Wonka flick which centers around the character itself.
Thankfully, the film won’t be an origin tale about Wonka, but instead a standalone movie focused on his earlier adventures. We don’t know if there will be other characters from the original book series but should the movie take off we might see characters like Charlie in future installments.
Simon Rich (Man Seeking Woman) is handling the screenplay, but it’s currently unknown who will be playing the titular character. Here’s hoping that this would be a fun new take on Willy Wonka that surpasses Tim Burton’s 2005 flick.
