There has been a long wait for Zombieland 2 since the original movie came out in 2009. However, the end is near as several casting sites reported that the sequel will start shooting this August in Atlanta.
News of the sequel comes as a relief to fans of Zombieland, as rumours of the sequel date back to 2014. The reports confirm the development of the movie as Sony unveiled a logo for the comedy horror movie, at the CinemaCon.
However, concerns for Zombieland 2 does not stop in development hell. Since the zombie comedy flick’s runaway success in 2009, the cast has seen their careers skyrocketed and whether the gang would return is burning question.
Jesse Eisenberg and his former co-star, Emma Stone has ventured into comic book adaptation as well as other high profile roles. The experienced Woody Harrelson, has also seen a meteoric rise in his career since the comedy horror film, most notably for his role in True Detectives. While, the young Amanda Breslin has gone a long way since her appearance and debut in Little Miss Sunshine. She is now well on her way to becoming a Hollywood scream queen with her involvement in Fox’s Scream Queen TV series.
If Zombieland 2 could not secure the cast for the project it is likely, that there will be a do-over for the franchise. If that is the case, the sequel could well follow the steps of True Detectives and American Horror Story, by retaining the setting but with a different cast, timeline and location.
Ultimately, these fears and speculation on the movie would only be confirmed with more information on the movie. Particularly, the cast of the upcoming movie.
We will keep you updated on the latest developments for Zombieland 2, in the meantime, always carry a change of underwear.
