New casting for next X-Men villain has been set, Oscar Isaac (Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Inside Llewyn Davis) has reached a deal to play the titular baddie in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse. The movie will be directed by Bryan Singer (X-Men, Valkyrie) with script written by Simon Kinberg (Big Hero 6, Star Wars Rebel).
The director emphasises that this movie will be “the most destructive in the franchise.”
“‘Apocalypse’ will have more of the mass destruction that ‘X-Men’ films, to date, have not relied upon,” he adds, “There’s definitely now a character and a story that allows room for that kind of spectacle.”
He also suggested that Apocalypse will be set in the 80s, which means younger versions of the characters will be the main focus.
The movie is scheduled for 27 May 2016.
