Conan Exiles

Funcom just announced that they’re making a brand new open-world survival game set in the Conan the Barbarian universe, called Conan Exiles.

Coming from the same people who produced Age of Conan, this the company’s first attempt at a multiplayer survival title that can be “enjoyed on both private and public servers”. For those who balk at the thought of playing with other humans, there will also be a single-player mode.

There is no better setting for an open-world survival game than the world of Conan,” said Joel Bylos, creative director at Funcom, in a release. “Hyboria is a harsh and unforgiving land where only the strongest can survive while the weak are swiftly cut down. Whether it is hunting animals for food, fighting monsters and other players, or building entire settlements, we want to make sure players feel like they are really fighting to survive and prosper in the most brutal fantasy world ever.”

Players will be taking the role of an exile trying to survive by hunting for food, growing crops and gathering various resources for shelter, tools and weaponry. Players will also be able to team up to battle for settlements, defend and build them as well.

Sounds a bit like Ark Survival Evolved but with a Conan the Barbarian flavour to it.

Conan Exiles is set to hit early access this Summer on PC, but will eventually be hitting console as well.
