You heard that right, there’s going to be a live-action movie based on the popular manga and anime Fullmetal Alchemist, and its apparently slated for a 2017 release!
So far we’re already gotten two anime series (Fullmetal Alchemist and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood) and a movie (Fullmetal Alchemist: Conquerer of Shamballa) from the manga, which officially ended in 2010. The manga was further serialised in English by Viz Media for western audiences, selling over 64 million copies worldwide.
Fullmetal Alchemist is considered one of Arakawa Hiromu’s most iconic works, we dare say its even a classic.
However, details for the movie so far are quite scant (aside from the fact that it will be in glorious live-action) but we do have Yamada Ryosuke (Hey! Say! JUMP) to star in the main role as Edward Elric.

Yamada also recently starred as the protagonist of the live-action adaptation of Assassination Classroom.
But there is the question of what they’ll be adapting in for this movie though. Will they be following the events of the anime/manga and condensed into a singular (or maybe more?) title like it was done for Attack on Titan or will it be touching an entirely different aspect of the franchise? there’s no way of saying just yet but we really hope it ends up being as awesome as it sounds!
The as-of-yet unnamed movie is set for release come Summer 2017, hopefully we’ll be getting more details soon!
