UPDATE: Pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch and a couple of its games are now open. Read on for more details.
Nintendo has finally revealed more about their up and coming Switch console, along with the price and launch date.
For those not in the know, the Switch (originally codenamed the NX) is a game console housed in a tablet, which can either be played on to go or connected to a display via a dock. Nintendo claims it has a battery life of about 2.5 to 6 hours, depending on the game, though we’ll have to see how it fares in real life tests against Nintendo’s claims.
Also, the Switch will charge via USB Type-C and will have no region lock (yay!) which means you wouldn’t have to wait for English translated games if you want to pick up specific Japanese language titles.
The Nintendo Switch is launching 3 March 2017 worldwide, with the North American pricing for the hybrid portable coming to $USD299.99 (about RM1339). It will launch with a minigame collection called 1-2 Switch, which will let you make use of the Switch’s controller’s unique features.
The Switch will also bring Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey, which is an open world sandbox title for the portable.
Pre-orders have gone live for the Nintendo Switch and some of its games. US retailers Walmart and Best Buy have started taking pre-orders for the console while Amazon has listed some of the games like Splatoon 2 and Super Mario Odyssey for pre-orders.
As for pre-orders for the South East Asian region, we have yet to get any details though we have reached out to Maxsoft, the region’s sole Nintendo distributor for more details. We’ll update the story once they’ve gotten back to us.
Looking forward to it yet? well we certainly are!
