Remember that fourth Powerpuff Girl that was being teased awhile ago? Cartoon Network has finally lifted the lid on Bliss, the official new 4th member of our superpowered girl squad.

While there were heaps of leaks on the character already, who seems to not only be darker skinned but a lot taller than the original girls. She’s set to appear in a 5-part special called The Powerpuff Girls: Power of Four, and we don’t know if she’ll be a permanent character.

Previously, there was another 4th Powerpuff, but Bunny only lasted for one episode and wasn’t brought back for any more episodes.

In this case, Bliss is apparently the girls’ long-lost older sister (which explains why she’s taller) who returns to Townsville to learn the true strength of her powers, which include teleportation and telekinesis on top of the usual flight and super strength. Bliss is the first of Professor Utonium’s creations and she mysteriously disappeared, only to return years later as a teenager.

Though it’s interesting to note that the aforementioned two powers aren’t something the rest of the girls have though, so it’s possibly something a PPG grows into? who knows.

Also, while I’m all for diversity in cartoons, I can’t help but feel that Bliss looks like a Tumblr reject of somekind, and I’m sure I’m not the only one who would have preferred Bunny make a return instead.

Either way, Bliss will officially make her on-screen appearance on Cartoon Network (Astro Channel 616) on Saturday, 23 September, 11:30am for the first three episodes and the final two on 24 September at the same time.
