It’s official, AMD has finally launched their new line of next-gen Radeon graphics cards to push your gaming experience to the next level.
In a nutshell, the new cards basically allow for smoother gameplay, super high resolutions, VR experiences and support for advanced APIs like DirectX 12 and Vulkan without consuming too much power in the process.
Of the R9 series the AMD Radeon R9 Fury X GPUs are designed with the highest GPU memory bandwidth, delivering over 60% more memory over their intergrated High Bandwidth Memory feature integrated on the chip. Designed for the hardcore gamer, the card also benefits from 4K support, AMD FreeSync tech and is future proof with API support for DirectX 12, OpenGL 4.5, Vulkan and AMD’s own Mantle.
The more compact design also allows for smaller PC form factors with more flexibility for modders and other DIY users. An even smaller version is set to follow in Q3 2015, going by the name of the AMD Radeon R9 Nano. The Fury X itself is already available for purchase.
As for the rest of the Radeom R9 300 series GPUs, they share roughly the same capabilities but they also support AMD CrossFire multi-GPU technology, but with more the larger, more traditional form factors that we are used to seeing. Of course on top of VR compatibility the cards wll also make used of the AMD FreeSync tech to eliminate tearing and stutter on single screen setups and multi-screen Eyefinity configurations.
The AMD Radeon R7 300 is built for a whole different kind of gaming. Made with focus on online gaming and eSports competitors, the cards will deliver greater than 60 fps gaming performance at bot 1080p or 1440p fo popular online games. The cards of course, are also future proof with optimization for the next-gen APIs so you don’t have to break the bank just to keep up.
You also get the added bonus of improvements in AMD’s Catalyst drivers for one-click game optimization in the Gaming Evolved Client, and by extension readiness for Windows 10.
The tech will be rolled out to supporting GPU brands like Powercolour, ASUS and MSI to name a few, with an absolutely immense lineup ready to hit the market starting this month.
